That's the problem with MC. He should have let the cousin guy do his thing, and everybody would have gotten some of the water. Now nobody got even a single drop except for MC and the dragon. I'm surprised the girls aren't angry at him for hogging it all.

MC is too ready to take all the credit. Give other people a chance to shine and let them have their 15 minutes of fame and maybe the other characters won't be so ready to hate him.

This is a great example of crappy writing tho. they are all written this way.
